Big Day Cake’s purpose is to personalise every celebration and make it more fun, and this includes Christmas day.
All year, we print cake toppers for a selection of raspberry and chocolate sponge cakes in ASDA and a range of pre-order cakes in Supervalu, which are perfect for birthday and celebration cakes, but if you want to personalise Christmas fruit cake, cupcake or mince pie, we recommend buying or making your own and designing a photo cake topper online.
Your topper arrives in the post for you to add to cakes at home. You can add your photos to our seasonal designs!
- Hurry! - Last orders for 2025 photo cake toppers is 20 December! Design yours here.
Here’s our simple guide to adding festive cheer to shop-bought christmas cakes, and your home-baked creations.
First, design and order your cake topper(s)
- Design your cake topper here.
- Add a festive design or just use your photo with or without one of our simple borders.
- Choose which shape and size you want. Make sure it matches up with the cake you plan to buy or make. We advise leaving about 1/2 to 1 inch around the edge of the topper, so they are suitable for cakes 1+inches larger than the topper size, e.g. a 7" topper will work well on an 8" or 9" cake.
- Round and square toppers come in 5", 6" and 7".
- Cupcake toppers are available in 4cm and 5cm diameter
- Rectangular toppers are available in 3 sizes
- 13 x 19cm / 5 x 7.5 in
- 15 x 22cm / 6 x 8.75 in
- 18 x 26cm / 7 x 10.25 in
- Order your toppers(s) and wait for it to arrive by post.
Prices start from £7.50/€8.60 up to £8.50/€9.80, depending on the size.
Orders received on regular business days, Monday to Friday, before 12pm will be dispatched the same day. Orders received after 12pm will be dispatched the following business day.
Hurrah! Your cake topper has arrived! Now what do you do?
A set of instructions will be included with your topper, but here's a few quick pointers for putting the topper on your cake. Our toppers work best on iced cakes or light coloured cake toppings.
- Gently peel off the clear cover sheet
- For fondant icing, use a pastry brush to lightly wet the top of the cake around the edges. For cream and buttercream, skip this step
- Gently peel the topper from the backing sheet
- Place the topper centrally on the cake, being careful not to touch the picture
- Make sure to tap the edges to seal the topper on to the cake
- Finish it off with some piping or sprinkles around the edges
Note: Do not put your topper in the fridge, freezer or oven at any point. It is not necessary and will damage the image
